Self-hosting starter kit: your own cloud on a crypto VPS
Replace Big Tech subscriptions with Nextcloud, Vaultwarden, Uptime Kuma and more — self-hosted on an anonymous VPS.
One server replaces five subscriptions
A single 2 vCPU / 4 GB server running Docker comfortably hosts Nextcloud (files and calendar), Vaultwarden (passwords), Uptime Kuma (monitoring), a Matrix or XMPP server for messaging and an RSS reader — your personal cloud for a few dollars a month.
Self-hosting on a no-KYC VPS adds a privacy layer subscriptions can't offer: the provider hosting your password manager doesn't know who you are.
The boring parts that matter
Put everything behind a reverse proxy (Caddy gives you automatic HTTPS in four lines), back up volumes off-server, and enable unattended security updates. An hour of setup buys years of quiet operation.
