We run Debian 13 (Trixie), 12 (Bookworm), 11 (Bullseye) as stock upstream images with full root and a dedicated IPv4. Debian 12 and 11 deploy on Vultr, Linode and Hetzner; Debian 13 is Vultr-only. Servers start at $10/mo and bill hourly from a crypto balance.
Debian is what you pick when you want the machine to keep doing exactly what it did last month. Smaller default install than Ubuntu, longer release cycles, and a strong preference for stability over new versions.
It is the common choice for routers, VPN endpoints, mail servers and anything else you would rather not touch after setup.
Which Debian versions we run
The catalog carries 13 (Trixie), 12 (Bookworm), 11 (Bullseye). Bookworm is the safe default; Trixie is the current stable line if you want newer packages.
Availability is genuinely uneven here and worth knowing before you pick a provider: Debian 12 and 11 run on Vultr, Linode and Hetzner, but not on DigitalOcean - DigitalOcean removed those images from its own catalog, so we cannot offer what it does not carry. Debian 13 is Vultr-only for now.
Debian or Ubuntu
Ubuntu is derived from Debian, so most guides work on both. Choose Debian for a leaner base install and slower, more conservative package updates. Choose Ubuntu when a vendor's install script names Ubuntu specifically, or when you want a newer kernel without waiting for the next Debian release.
Neither costs more here - the plan price is the same whichever Linux image you deploy.
Debian availability by provider
Debian 12 (Bookworm) and 11 (Bullseye) deploy on Vultr, Linode and Hetzner. They are not available on DigitalOcean, which dropped both from its image catalog. Debian 13 (Trixie) is Vultr-only.
We would rather state this than let you find out at deploy time: the create page filters images by the provider you picked, so an unsupported combination never reaches the API.

Why is Debian missing on DigitalOcean?
Because DigitalOcean removed those images from its own catalog. We provision real instances on each provider, so we can only offer what the provider actually carries. Pick Vultr, Linode or Hetzner for Debian.
Is Debian lighter than Ubuntu?
The default install is smaller, yes - noticeably so on a 1 GB plan. In practice both run comfortably once you install your own software.
Do I get full root on Debian?
Yes, root from the first minute, with the password you set at deploy. There is no management agent and nothing preinstalled by us.
