Full Control of Your Server — Reboot, Rename, Reverse DNS

By the NoctHost TeamJuly 31, 2026Updated September 12, 20261 min read

A server you can't control is just a bill. NoctHost now gives you the everyday management controls right in the dashboard — no support ticket, no waiting.

Power controls

Reboot, Stop and Start your server with a click. Reboot to apply a kernel update, stop a box you're not using for a while, start it back up when you need it. Same hourly billing throughout — you manage the machine's state, we handle the plumbing.

Rename

Give a server a name that means somethingedge-proxy, mail-relay, client-x-staging — instead of a random label. Rename it any time; it updates instantly across your dashboard.

Reverse DNS (PTR)

Point a PTR record for your server's IPv4 at a hostname. This matters most if you run a mail server — many receivers reject or downrank mail from an IP without a matching reverse DNS record. Set it from the dashboard in seconds (just make sure a forward A record exists first). Available on Vultr, Linode and Hetzner servers. DigitalOcean derives the PTR from the droplet name and has no separate API for it, so we don't offer the field there.

Everything in one place

  • Power: reboot / stop / start
  • Rename: human-readable labels
  • Reverse DNS: PTR for mail and clean setups
  • Plus the [web console](/blog/vps-web-console-no-ssh), [one-click backups](/blog/one-click-vps-backups), and [IP rotation](/blog/rotate-vps-ip-no-kyc) we shipped alongside them.

No card, no KYC, no ticket — open your server in the dashboard and it's all there. You rent the box with an email and crypto; you run it however you like.

Email signup, pay with crypto, hourly billing. Trying a box costs cents — destroy it when you are done.
